Castlefield is an excellent place to start exploring Manchester. It is originally the site of the Roman fort Mamucium, which presented Manchester as the modern name.

There is also an art gallery known as Castlefield Art Gallery where the exhibitions are done of contemporary art and Bridgewater Hall which is home to Halle orchestra and first-class concerts.

Chetham’s Library

Chetham’s library founded in 1653 is one of the oldest public libraries in the English speaking world. The entire collection has been designated as national and international importance. People love coming here very often especially those who are a bookworm and love to read books.

The library has a fine collection of early printed books, include a wealth of ephemera, manuscript diaries, letters and deeds, prints, paintings and glass lantern slides.

This is the biggest park in the Greater Manchester and also largest municipal park in Europe. You can do lots of things here in this beautiful historical area more than just a walk such as play areas, cafes, Animal Centre, Tram Museum, bowling greens, golf course, boating lake, and you can even try your hand at horse riding.
